Jade Hong Kong Cafe, on Carrington Road in Box Hill has it’s own unique take on the common Japanese dish.
For $9 you get a sizable bowl of rice, either cuumbed chicken or pork, topped with Japanese curry. But Jade’s curry is unique in that it doesn’t taste like the standard katsu curry. I can’t pin the taste down, but it’s got an extra punch that’s incredibly satisfying.
As I said before, you get a rather large helping of rice with this dish. Most of the time it’s a real struggle for me to finish due to the sheer amount of rice. Sadly in recent years this dish has gone up 50c in price, just like almost everything else.
